“Our commitment to advancing theatre and performing arts in Nigeria is well established. Today, we are gratified to also see gifted graduates of the MTNF MUSON Music Scholars programme be a part of this renowned showpiece; where they are applying skills honed during the programme. ”
Describing the renaissance of the arts and theatre industry, Executive Producer, Bolanle Austen Peters, said: “It has been an incredible journey. The warm reception we have received at home and abroad, have left us even more confident that there is no better time than now to tell positive Nigerian stories- tales that celebrate our beautiful people, the intricacy of our culture and our many amazing adventures.”
Wakaa! the Musical is a play about the trials, successes, and experiences of six young graduates with varied backgrounds, a wager between them after graduation takes a twist when the realities of life and the folly of their choices hits them. Eventually they reunite, coming full circle.
The story reveals the struggles and challenges that young people face in present day Nigeria and abroad. The Musical’ takes you on an emotional roller-coaster, and is a strong satire of Nigerian politics.
