VIDEO: Why I can never be a Muslim — Cardi B

Published by

American rap star, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, popularly known as Cardi B, has said she does not have the strength to practise Islam, citing her inability to fast for long hours without food.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the rapper addressed Muslims observing Ramadan and admitted that she struggles to go three hours after waking up without eating.

She explained that when she stays hungry for that long, she begins to feel unwell, experiences headaches and becomes irritable.

Cardi B said God knew not to make her a Muslim, stressing that she lacks the discipline required to abstain from food and water for extended periods.

She added that hunger affects her mood to the point that she prefers to stay away from her children and avoids using her phone when she has not eaten.

Despite her remarks, she expressed admiration for Muslims who fast, noting that they sacrifice food, water and other comforts out of devotion to God.

The rapper said, “All my Muslims out there and my non-Muslims doing Ramadan, fasting and shit. God knew not to make me no Muslim. Bitch, if I wake up and I don’t go three hours without eating, my head starts to hurt, I start hearing voices and shit.

“He knows, He knows not to make me no Muslim. He knows he ain’t want it. I don’t have the strength to be a Muslim.

“If I wake up, I get like a three-hour limit. If I don’t eat in three hours after I wake up, I start to hear shit. I start cursing people out.

“Bitch, if I’m hungry, I don’t want to be around my kids. No nothing. I don’t play on my phone.

“I don’t play that hungry shit. They love their God so much that they’ve sacrificed food, water, everything to serve him. I love when people are loyal to their creator.”

Her comments come following the commencement of Ramadan fasting by Muslims on Wednesday, after the crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
