Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has spoken on his recent prison experience, describing it as a difficult period that changed his outlook on life and authority.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Portable said the experience was intense and eye‑opening, noting that it helped him understand the pressure faced by late Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo‑Kuti, whom he referenced while reflecting on Nigeria’s challenges.

According to Portable, what he went through was unlike anything he had experienced before, stressing that the environment and circumstances took a heavy emotional toll on him.

“Wetin I don face even 2Face never face am. I now understand why Fela d!£d early, it’s because of Nigeria problems,” he said.

“Ogbeni, if you abuse me, I will use the police to arrest you. If you pinch me, I will arrest you,” he stated.

Portable further revealed that his perception of the police had changed. He admitted that he used to avoid them out of fear but now understands their role better, adding that he was advised not to run from authorities.

“I used to run from them because I feared them… But the police have corrected me. I was not sentenced to prison,” he said.

He added that officials encouraged him to focus on self‑growth and reassured him about his future, noting that he was told his record does not limit his potential.

“They said I can still become the President. They said I can be anything I want to be in this life, as long as I have never been sentenced.”

Following the video, Portable’s management issued a statement confirming that concerns surrounding the singer had been addressed through appropriate channels. The team said the matter had been resolved and thanked the public for its patience and understanding.
