VIDEO:’ I tried reaching out,’ Funke Akindele reacts to claims abandoning Jumoke

Popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has said she tried reaching out after being accused of abandoning late actress Aderounmi Adejumoke.

In a viral video, she was seen crying profusely, saying she’s also having her own trying times, as she lost her mum, political appointments and marriage. So, people should stop cursing her and her children , as she’s also human.

Recall Tribune Online reported Adejumoke’s untimely demise on April 6th, 2024, has left the industry and fans in mourning.

Akindele, joining a wave of Nigerian celebrities in honoring Adejumoke’s memory on social media, found herself embroiled in controversy when Adejumoke’s brother, Aderounmu Adeola, publicly criticized her as a hypocrite. Adeola claimed that his late sister had attempted to contact Akindele, only to be ignored.

However, in an emotional Instagram live session with her fans, Akindele defended herself, revealing that she had been unaware of Adejumoke’s illness. She even reached out to mutual acquaintances, like actor Jide Awobona, inquiring about Adejumoke’s well-being due to their long absence from the screen.
