He uses me as a tool to satisfy his sexual urge, woman tells court

Morufat  Momodu, a fashion designer,  in her testimony  before Oja Oba/ Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, stated thus:

“My lord, I have derived no joy in my marriage since I got married to my husband 10 years ago.

“All I wished for in marriage have d…me. I pray the court to terminate our union so that I can start life afresh.”

Morufat  had  sued for divorce at the court on the accounts of neglect and battery by her husband.

She prayed the court to grant her custody of their only child and make her husband  to be  committed to their child’s welfare and education.

She further urged the court to restrain him from coming to her place or shop to fight her.

“I have given birth to five children in our 10 years of marriage, but only one is alive today as a result of my husband’s negligence and uncaring attitude.

“He used to abandon me any time I was pregnant and leave me to fend for myself and  buy the baby’s needs.

“No matter how advanced the pregnancy was, my husband would still beat me and sometimes hit me with objects within his reach.

“He considers me as part of the furniture in the house and a tool with which he can satisfy his sexual urge.

“He shows no affection towards me and there is no intimacy between us.

“I’m tired of such a relationship and desire a release from the bondage I am in.

“I pray the court to set me free so that I can start life afresh, “the plaintiff stated.

The defendant, Lateef Momodu, refused to show up in court after being served a court summon thrice.

Ruling, the court president, Chief Ademola O dunola, dissolved the union and granted the plaintiff custody of their child.

The defendant was ordered to pay N 5,000 monthly as their child’s feeding allowance and be responsible for his education and health care.
