The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has graduated the second batch of its last graduating students from the college of medicine, Idi-Araba. They were 98, bringing the total number of the 2018 graduating set to 232 as the rest had earlier graduated in December last year.
Tribune Online reports that the registrar of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr Tajudeen Sanusi performed the oath of allegiance for them via a virtual platform from Abuja at the induction ceremony held at the college in Lagos.
Among those in attendance are provost of the college, Prof Foluso Lesi; Dean of Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof Joseph Adeyemi and his dental sciences’ counterpart, Prof Oyinkansola Sofola and the college’s secretary, Olayinka Obafemi-Moses while the inductees took their oath in turn in order to maintain social and physical distancing policy to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Addressing the graduands, Prof Foluso Lesi, who also stood in for the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, congratulated the inductees and asked them to go into the world and be creative and innovative to do things that would make them contribute meaningfully to the development of their professions and the society.
He said they must be able to demonstrate in their respective fields and other endeavours that they had the best training and mentor-ship any world-class college like theirs can offer.
He added: “So, always think out of the box so as to be able to surmount challenges that may come your way as you move up in life.
“No doubt, there are bound to be challenges, but what will set you apart and help you to the top is your level of determination, diligence, integrity, commitment and faith in God.”
Prof Lesi, however, urged the government to invest more on education and health so that the country would be able to build more people that would take it out of poor nations.
