Minister of Works David Umahi has denied allegations that he sponsored protests against Professor Uzoma Agwu, the Chief Medical Director of the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) in Uburu, located in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Umahi made this statement at his country home in Umunaga, where he urged the traditional rulers and youths of the Uburu community to refrain from any further protests against the institution.
He encouraged the people of Uburu to pray for the progress of the institution in their community instead of participating in protests and petitions, which he believes could cause more harm to the establishment.
The Minister of Works David Umahi has denied sponsoring protest against the Chief Medical Director of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH), Uburu, Ohaozara local Government Area of Ebonyi State Prof. Uzoma Agwu.
Umahi disclosed this at his country home while calling on the Traditional Rulers and youths of Uburu community to desist from further protest against the institution.
He then encouraged the people of Uburu, to pray for the progress of the institution in their community rather than engaging in a protest and petitions which according to him could cause more damages to the institution.
His words “There should be no more protest. Do not write any petition, let us not play into the hands of our enemies. You need to ask yourself how many persons are happy with the kind of institution we have here?
” If the woman is good is 2 years more if the woman is bad is 2 more years. If people are using people to destroy that institution, it will not happen.
“Just ignore what is happening there, is just 2 years remaining and all you need is prayers for the success of that hospital. Let’s hand over the hospital to her .
“She is our daughter and if you have our children that are writing petition it is against the hospital. Do not write petition against anybody you will be playing into the hands of our enemies, you will be playing into the hands of those who do not want the hospital to thrive.
” The governor has graciously agreed to step in so let’s allow the governor to find out what is happening and get the problem solved ” he said
Recall that the traditional council led by HRH Eze Lazarus Umahi during a protest last week Monday accusing the CMD Prof. Agwu of incompetence, negligence, and systemic abuse, among other allegations which led to a counter-protest by the staff of the hospital passing votes of confidence on the CMD.
