Tony Elumelu Foundation opens application for TEF 2020 Cohort, to empower young African entrepreneurs

The Tony Elumelu Foundation has opened applications for the 2020 cohort of her entrepreneurship programme aimed at empowering African entrepreneurs.

In a statement issued by the foundation, successful applicants would join a vast hub of young entrepreneurs’ network that cut across Africa, adding that the programme, a 10-year, $100million project to mentor young entrepreneurs, is open to entrepreneurs with budding business ideas or existing businesses operating in any sector across Africa.

“The foundation will be accepting applications for the 2020 cohort of the TEF programme on January 1, 2020. Applications can be made through TEFconnect, the digital networking hub for the African entrepreneurship ecosystem, created by the foundation.

Successful applicants will join the over 9,000 current beneficiaries, from 54 African countries, and receive business training, mentoring, a non-refundable $5,000 of seed capital and global networking opportunities” the foundation announced.

The foundation relayed that it received 216,000 applications with 42 per cent from women entrepreneurs across Africa last year. It noted that the foundation is committed to empowering and providing an enabling environment for the growth of ‘Africapitalism’

“The programme is to identify, train, mentor and fund 10,000 young African entrepreneurs with aim of creating millions of jobs and revenue required for the sustainable development of the continent, implementing the philosophy of Africapitalism,” it said
