The Renewed Hope Initiative of the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu, in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), has flagged off the second phase of empowerment tools to women in zone B and C senatorial districts of Niger State.

Flagging off the empowerment tools at Hon. Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center, Minna, on Wednesday, 26th February 2025, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by the wife of Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, said that the empowerment programme is aimed at giving women the power to build a future of dignity and self-reliance.

According to Fatima Umaru Bago, “Women are the backbone of our homes and communities; hence, when you empower a woman, you empower a family, and when families are strong, society thrives.”

The governor’s wife maintained that the distribution of the empowerment tools marks a day of renewed hope, a day that reaffirms the collective commitment to uplifting women and giving them the tools they need to thrive.

Items distributed to the beneficiaries include deep-chest freezers, maxi gas cookers with ovens, generator sets, and industrial grinding machines to strengthen their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

The wife of the Governor lauded Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, stressing that her passion and dedication were evident in initiatives like this empowerment programme, which will benefit 18,500 women across the country.

Fatima Umaru Bago also appreciated the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDG’s for her dedication to improving the lives of women and girls across the country.

Her words: “Here in Niger State, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has always championed the cause of women. His vision for the state includes ensuring that women are not just seen but heard, not just supported but fully empowered to stand on their own,” pointing out that the empowerment aligns perfectly with that vision.

She, however, stated that the empowerment tools are key to unlocking new opportunities for the beneficiaries and urged them to use them effectively to grow their businesses, support their families, and inspire other women around them.

It will be recalled that the first phase was flagged off in Bida Local Council on Friday, 21st February 2025.

Earlier, the Niger State Commissioner for Small and Medium Enterprises, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affirmative action, Mrs. Mary Noel- Barje, applauded the wife of the President for her humanitarian gesture and advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items.

The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of the items to the beneficiaries by the governor’s wife.
