The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of three persons in an accident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, at the Railway Crossing along the Abeokuta-Lagos expressway.

A statement issued by Odunsi Afolabi, Superintendent, Route Commander, Ogun Sector Command, explained that the incident occurred at 4.20 am and involved a white Volvo commercial truck with registration number AYE 977 XA.

Afolabi noted that preliminary investigations attributed overspeeding as the suspected cause of the crash.

He said that seven persons were involved in the accident, five males and two females, leaving three dead, one with severe multiple fractures, and three escaped unhurt.

Odunsi said personnel of FRSC were quick to the scene and that the agency, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), had successfully cleared the obstruction to ensure the free flow of traffic on the route.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin strongly warned motorists against night-time speeding and reckless driving, especially at critical junctions and railway crossings.

Drivers are urged to adhere strictly to speed limits to prevent further loss of lives.
