Popular gospel music concert, The Experience, has continued to prove that it remains the leading and main Christian music concert in the country following yet another record it set at this year’s edition which set Lagos agog penultimate Friday.
The event took a new dimension this year as it added another feature to the gospel music concert organised by the Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock, Lagos State, Pastor Paul Adefarasin. Adefarasin, at the event, showcased his humanitarian gesture as he empowered many ‘area boys’ on the Lagos Island axis of Lagos State with the distribution of tricycles and commercial buses.
Adefarasin noted that the church had over the years helped ‘area boys’ in the area of rehabilitation and skills acquisition to get them meaningfully engaged, adding that “at this time, we are very thankful for the Lagos Island area boys that we have renamed Jesus boys. We have helped them for over 24 years through healthcare, education, rehabilitation and skills acquisitions.
“Now, we are taking it a little further to empower them by creating a transport industry that the ‘area’ boys will be able to run. It involves various types of vehicular transportation but we are starting the pilot scheme with the Keke-Marwa (tricycle). We would also give them several vehicles for commercial transportation purposes. They will be delivered to them in the next 72 hours. The very best of them have been identified and they will be handed their buses,” he added.
The development, which was acknowledged by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who assisted the church to unveil tricycles along with his wife, Ibijoke, thanked the church for the gesture and promised to support the initiative.
The 2019 edition tagged: “Experience 14: Let us Worship Jesus” drew thousands of worshippers from various denominations at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, as people had the opportunity to express their gratitude to God in their own ways through series of musical renditions by both international and indigenous gospel ministers such as Deon Moen, Travis Greene, Sinach, Nathaniel Bassey, Tope Alabi, Donnie McClurkin, Planetshakers, Chioma Jesus, Eben, Onos Ariyo, Sammie Okposo, among others.
