Terrorism, banditry, manifestation of unsound faith — Cleric

Published by

THE Chief Imam of Lekki Muslim Ummah (LEMU), Sheikh Ridwan Jamiu, has described the activities of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements as a manifestation of unsound faith.

Their actions, he said, attract the wrath of Allah.

Sheikh Jamiu, at LEMU’s quarterly da’wah workshop held at the Jubrila Ayinla Multipurpose Hall of the Lekki Central Mosque Complex in Lagos, implored Muslims to lead a good life as prescribed by the Qur’an and the hadith.

According to him, sound faith begets good life and unsound faith manifests in cruelty and lack of humanity as seen in violent such acts as terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.

“Unsound faith will lead you to commit suicide, blasphemy, killings and hurting of fellow human beings. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do in life without belief. What one does, whether good or bad, or right or wrong, is a function of the inner conviction, which is faith. Therefore, people may have sound or unsound faith. People of sound faith are those with good behaviour who guard their prayers and relationship with Allah and will inherit Paradise,” the cleric said.

The chairman on the occasion, Dr Muiz Banire, described the workshop’s topic was apt and instructive.

“A good life is an inheritance of a Muslim. Once you submit to the will of Allah, everything will fall into place. Leading a good life inspires us to keep ourselves within the confines of Islam,” Dr Banire said.

The president of LEMU, Dr Kamoru Omotosho, said the purpose of the quarterly da’wah was to remind the people of the beautiful message of Islam and invite others into the fold of the religion.

Dr Omotosho, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Abdul Ganiy Labinjo, implored Muslims to be conscious of their environments and take necessary measures against the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
