The Senator representing Kogi west Senatorial district of Kogi State, Smart Adeyemi, on Monday met with the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Engr. Mustapha Maihaja, over last Friday’s attack by armed militia on Tawari community in Kogi council area.
During the attack, about 23 persons were killed with property worth millions of naira also destroyed.
The meeting which was held at the head office of the agency was at the instance of the senator who sought immediate assistance for the affected communities.
Senator Adeyemi urged the agency to provide immediate aids to the people of Tawari Community in Kogi local government.

Adeyemi said the action became necessary in view of the fact that the attack has affected both the economy and social life of the people, adding that helping the affected people will go a long way to soothe their lives.
He said though no amount of money or material donations can replace the lost souls, assistance by the agency will go along way to rehabilitate and revamp the community.
The Director General eulogised the proactive measures of the senator seeking relief for the people he represented.
Maihaja, however, promised to conduct a site assessment of the community so as to ascertain the kind of relief materials needed.
He added that both the assessment and deployment of relief materials to the community would be completed by the weekend.
