The chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Dr. Babatunde Diya, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the conversion of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) into a federal university, describing the move as a landmark decision that will redefine teacher education in Nigeria.

In a statement he signed and released on Monday to journalists, Diya lauded President Tinubu for recognising TASUED’s significance and granting it federal status.
He said this would enhance educational infrastructure, increase funding, and expand academic opportunities for Ogun State and the nation at large.
“President Tinubu has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to human capital development. By elevating Tai Solarin University of Education to federal status, he has reaffirmed his dedication to improving education in Nigeria.
“This decision will not only expand access to quality teacher training but also further establish Ogun State as an academic powerhouse,” he said.
Diya also commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his role in strengthening TASUED and laying the groundwork for its federal conversion.
He praised the governor’s visionary leadership and relentless efforts in ensuring the institution’s growth and sustainability.
“Governor Abiodun has been instrumental in this transformation. His strategic investments and commitment to education provided the solid foundation for TASUED’s federal status. It is a great honour that during his tenure and coincidentally, during my time as chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, that our great institution has attained this milestone.
“This achievement will benefit generations to come,” he added.
Diya also expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for approving the rehabilitation of the Federal Government College Road in Odogbolu, a project he said would significantly boost access to education and economic activities in the region.
“Infrastructure and education go hand in hand. The rehabilitation of the Federal Government College Road will ease movement for students, faculty, and residents, further solidifying Odogbolu as an educational hub.
“This is yet another testament to Governor Abiodun’s ‘Building Our Future Together’ vision, which continues to transform our state,” he noted.
Diya reaffirmed the unwavering support of Odogbolu residents for the policies and initiatives of President Tinubu and Governor Abiodun, emphasising that their leadership has ushered in remarkable development in the local government and Ogun State as a whole.
