Governor Dr Kefas Agbu of Taraba State, alongside the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has embarked on a grassroots consultation exercise to identify credible individuals suitable for appointment as Commissioners and special advisers.
The aim of this initiative, as disclosed by Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, the PDP State Chairman, is to ensure that Governor Agbu fulfils the aspirations of the citizens of Taraba State.
In a press briefing held at his office in Jalingo, Bawa revealed that Governor Agbu had issued a directive to the party, communicated through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), to engage in grassroots consultations in order to identify individuals of integrity who would serve as Commissioners and special advisers, contributing to the development of Taraba State.
Bawa emphasized that the governor’s decision to involve the state PDP in the grassroots consultation process is aimed at fostering good governance in Taraba State.
Governor Agbu is not interested in imposing candidates but is focused on selecting individuals who will work in the best interests of the state.
“We have been instructed to consult and identify trustworthy men and women of character who will work diligently and provide valuable advice to the governor for the betterment of Taraba State,” Bawa explained.
He further outlined that the consultation process would involve collaboration with local communities and traditional rulers to ensure the selection of the most suitable candidates.
The decision will not be based solely on popularity within the local government but will primarily rely on the trust and confidence bestowed upon the nominees by the local communities.
The PDP chairman reiterated the commitment to guaranteeing good governance for Taraba State and its citizens, stating that the selection process would prioritize individuals who align with the development agenda of the state.
