The Bauchi State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has pledged its loyalty to the Senator Esther Nenadi Usman-led national leadership, in line with the recent Supreme Court judgement that formally recognised her validity as the sole Chairperson of the party.
In a statement signed by Rev. Joshua Sunday, the party noted: “We are a law-abiding group of party faithful, and the apex court of the land remains the last resort. Its judgement is sacrosanct. In that light, we, the Labour Party and its executives from ward level in Bauchi State, have fully pledged loyalty to the leadership of Senator Esther Nenadi Usman.”
The statement further read: “We call on all our members in the state and the Obedient family to join us in repositioning the Labour Party in Bauchi State to ensure its success in all political spheres and negotiations.”
He stressed: “It is pertinent to note that the Nigerian state under the APC-led administration has become a beacon of hopelessness, financial banditry, clannishness, impunity, unemployment, insecurity, inflation, and other negative indices that have engulfed the country in the last 10 years.”
According to him, “The task of rescuing Nigeria from the hands of amateur leaders is an act of patriotism for all Nigerians. In that light, we fully support the coalition to oust the ruling party and to provide Nigerians with the dividends of democracy.”
He added: “Our loyalty to Peter Obi is non-negotiable, and we will continue to offer our unwavering support and solidarity in every political effort aimed at restoring Nigeria to its lost glory.”
Rev. Joshua Sunday further declared: “In view of the above, I, Rev. Joshua Sunday, the erstwhile Zonal Vice Chairman, Bauchi South Senatorial Zone, offer my service to our party as Chairman of the State chapter. My record of success while serving as Zonal Vice Chairman, Bauchi South, speaks for itself and gives me an edge to be elected as State Chairman.”
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, “to, as a matter of urgency, recognise the interim Chairperson of our great party, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman.”
Concluding, he said: “We therefore call on our executive members from ward level in all the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State to join hands with me to make the Labour Party in the state one of the strongest opposition platforms, capable of providing a viable alternative to the people from the grassroots to the very top.”
