The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that their legal battle against the All Progressive Congress governorship candidature of Governor Hope Uzodinma is still on at the Supreme Court.
The party further clarified that it was seeking that the Supreme Court should enforce its judgement on the status of the actual candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 Imo governorship election, as well as the illegitimate occupation of the Office of the Governor of Imo State by the APC.
In a statement issued by the party in Owerri through the publicity secretary, Mr Ogubundu Nwadike, said that the clarification became necessary following speculations on the suit by one Mcfyne C. Chikwendu, who claimed to be a concerned citizen claiming that the suit in Abuja Court seeking for the removal of Senator Hope Uzodimma as the governor of Imo State had been vacated.
The Party made it categorically clear that the matter that was declined was the matter at the Abuja Court, adding that the matter involving the PDP is at the Supreme Court, awaiting hearing and had not been vacated as claimed by some different groups.
The statement maintained that the matter remained the petition by Chief Philip Umeadi, SAN, joined by the PDP, asking the Supreme Court to enforce its judgement on the candidate of APC in the 2019 governorship election, in which Chief Uche Nwosu was recognised and disqualified by the Supreme Court as the authentic candidate of APC in the election.
The Party declared absolute faith in the apex court, which according to it, had established its decisions, once taken, remain irreversible.
PDP stated that it was optimistic that whenever the matter was called up for hearing, the irreversible decision of the Supreme Court on the bonafide candidate of APC in the 2019 Imo governorship election would be enforced.
The Party, however, informed the leaders, stakeholders, members, teeming supporters of the party, and the general public that PDP was not involved in the matter that was vacated, which Senator Uzodinma with his aides had turned into an object of propaganda and blackmail.
It insisted that the matter involving the PDP still subsisted at the Supreme Court and would be heard at an appointed time soon.
The party expressed appreciation for the teeming population of Imo people and Nigerians who had expressed concern over the misrepresented development, assuring them that the PDP matter against Senator Hope Uzodimma’s candidature and governorship statuses was still on.
