THE Federal Government,
on Thursday, warned the prospective applicants into the Federal Civil Service to stop paying either for the recruitment exercise or application form, saying it is illegal and any officer caught in such habit would face the full wrath of the law.
Acting Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess Joan Ayo disclosed this in Abuja during a seminar organised by the Oyo State Government for its indigenes residents in the Northern part of the country.
Deaconess Ayo, who was represented by the Deputy Director, Recruitment Department of the commission, Mr. Bala Muhammed, said it is illegal to demand for money from any applicant before securing job.
According to him, we are aware that some people paid N500, 000 or N300, 000 to secure application form, it is illegal, application forms are free, you are not supposed to pay any money. People are always duped, so that is why we are telling them now to stop paying.
“Even in our commission, we are aware there is a racket, they will ask you to bring N300, 000 and at the end of the day, if you trace them, you may not see the staff of the commission involved, there are outsiders who used commission’s name to dupe people”, he stated.
She, therefore, urged the general public to always report such cases to the Police.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Intergovernmental Relations, Mrs Olusola Falana Younger, said her mind has always been with the people of Oyo State in the Northern States, particularly during the trying times of slow economic recovery, insurgency, insecurity and other unpalatable situation in the country.
This, according to her, informed her decision to engage in series of discussions and brainstorming sessions with the officers on how best the government could further identify with them and collectively discuss on how they could work together to better their lots and ultimately working towards a better Oyo State regardless of financial limitations.
