THE Senate on Wednesday resolved to investigate operations of Arik Air, especially in relation to safety in the air.
The development was sequel to a point of Order raised by Senate Majority Whip, Olusola Adeyeye, who alerted the chamber to the need to avert disaster in the air.
The lawmakers resolved to investigate alleged poor services being rendered by Arik airline and the poor state of aircraft on its fleet.

Senator Adeyeye, who raised the alarm said that he was surprised to have boarded a particular aircraft of the Airline which had faulty air conditioners on three different occasions, adding the on each occasion, the crew had assured him that the aircraft would be fixed only for him to board it another time and discover the same problem.
He said that the development has to be checked to avert a disaster in waiting.
He said: “I want to bring the attention of the Senate to the substandard services being offered by Arik airline. I have had the misfortune of flying one of the aircraft labelled, Queen of the Angels.
“The air conditioner of the aircraft did not work in the three times that I boarded it. I approached the crew and they told me that they are aware and that they would fix it today. They said that three times.
“I think I owed it to the public and myself to alert us that if the aircraft is not serviced on time, it is danger waiting to happen. I believe that something should be done because the lives of passengers are at risk.”
Senate President Bukola Saraki, who responded said that it was imperative for the Senate to attend swiftly to the issue because according to him, the development has to do with lives of the people they represent
He called on The Senator-Adamu Aliero-led Committee on Aviation to investigate the matter and report to the Senate within one week.
