SCAN congratulates Bunu, new MWUN President-General

The Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN) has congratulated Comrade Francis Bunu on his election as the President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN).

Bunu was unanimously elected unopposed alongside new national executive during the union’s sixth Quadrennial National Delegates Conference recently held in Lagos.

In a statement issued by its President, Moses Ebosele and Secretary, Shulammite Olowofoyeku, SCAN commended MWUN for conducting a peaceful and successful election.

The maritime journalist group noted that Bunu’s unanimous victory reflects the confidence the union members have in his leadership abilities.

SCAN also recognised the significant contributions of the immediate past President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, whose efforts, it said, played a crucial role in Bunu’s successful campaign.

Recognising the vital role MWUN plays in the maritime sector, SCAN expressed optimism for a strengthened and collaborative relationship with MWUN under Bunu’s leadership.

“It is with immense joy that the Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria wishes to profoundly congratulate you on your emergence as the President General of MWUN at the just concluded 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference.

“Your victory did not come to us as a surprise, considering your wide acceptability amongst members of the Union across the country. Its indeed a reward for your dedication and perseverance which you have undoubtedly demonstrated in serving the Union for over two decades,” the statement said.

SCAN expressed confidence in Bunu’s ability to sustain and improve the legacies of his predecessor, pledging to work closely with him to build a formidable media presence for the benefit of both the Union and the country.

The SCAN president also acknowledged MWUN’s support towards the SCAN’s Dockworker’s Day and assured Bunu of the association’s commitment to future collaborations.
