The seven-member panel of Justices of the Supreme Court has just risen to return by 12 noon today to rule in the appeal by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last governorship election in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede against the victory of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The panel, led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili chose the time for the court’s decision after taking final arguments of parties in the appeal few minutes ago.
Jegede and his party are challenging the competence of APC’s sponsorship of Akeredolu for the election in the main appeal.
There are also three cross-appeals by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC and Akeredolu.
While Jegede and his party are urging the court to allow the appeal, the respondents are praying the court to dismiss it and allow their cross-appeals.
