Respect the culture of your host communities, NYSC Tells Corps Members

Anambra state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chief Kehinde Aremu, has called on corps members deployed to Anambra State and other parts of the country to respect the culture and Traditions of their host communities, as Nigerians are known of culture and Traditions.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of 2019 Batch ‘C’ stream 11 orientation course for corps members deployed to the state at the Umuawulu/Mbaukwu Orientation in Awka South LGA, on Wednesday, Chief Aremu, added that respecting and learning of the culture and Traditions of their host communities, will enable them to of be good ambassadors of the country in future.

While declaring that a total of 1057 corps members participated and successfully completed the orientation course in the state with 486 males and 571 females, Aremu, said during the three weeks camping period, they compatriots were prepared physically and mentally for the onerous challenge of National Service and especially to bring to bear their knowledge, experience and expertise on the overall development of the state.

He said about 100 corps members are already been posted to drive the Penetration’ of the Smart Job Initiative, a flagship digital entrepreneurship project of the Anambra state government.

He urged them to strive to uphold the tenets of the NYSC Service with humility, as the move into the nooks and crannies of Anambra state.

He thanked the state governor, Willie Obiano, for his faith, financial and emotional investment in the NYSC and in Nigerian Youths generally with a promise to repay in multiple folds.

Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Prof. Solo Chukwubelu, said the government was optimistic of the corps members’ readiness to positively elevate the fortunes of the state with their talents, education and high sense of responsibility.

He said ample opportunity shall be given to them to contribute and excel in the implementation of government programmes, especially in areas of providing manpower for quality education, health care, agriculture, among others.

“The training you have received is aimed at enabling you to integrate effectively into your host communities and enable you to contribute your quota to the development of our state”

“We shall not spare any effort in ensuring that your proven expertise and creative energy are fully harnessed towards making Anambra’s light more luminous and to improve the lives of the citizenry,” he assured.
