Reps: Gbajabiamila swears in Ebisike, Abia lawmaker

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday, swore in Hon Chimaobi Ebisike of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon Ebisike, replaced late Hon Prestige Ossy, member representing Aba South/North Federal Constituency of Abia State on the platform of All Grand Progressive Alliance (APGA).

The swearing-in ceremony was performed after the adoption of a motion sponsored by the House Leader, Hon Alhassan Ado who urged the House to “admit into the Chamber to witness the Swearing-in Ceremony of Member – Elect, Aba North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State Mr Chimaobi Ebisike” pursuant to Order 21, Rule 8(1 and 2) of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives.

The newly elected lawmaker was accompanied by the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Mrs Chimaobi Ebisik, his wife of Member -Elect, Hon Asiforor Okere, Peoples Democratic Party, Abia State Chairman (PDP) Abia State Party Chairman, Hon. Solomon Akkpulonu, Majority Leader, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Ibe Nwoko, Chairman Obingwa Local government Area and Hon. Ikonne Chimehiura, Chairman Aba North Local Government Area.

Declaring the result at the Constitution Crescent primary school collation centre, Aba, Returning Officer for the constituency, Professor Fidelis Okpata of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, disclosed that Ebisike polled 10,322 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate, Mascot Uzor Kalu who got 3,674 votes.
