It is no longer news that Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde proscribed the state National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) last Friday.
The action occurred due to the recent disturbances that occurred shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of Engineer Seyi Makinde at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan last Wednesday.
The state government further promised that park managers would be appointed to take care of all Union activities of NURTW across Oyo State.
Speaking on a radio interview today in Ibadan, the NURTW National President, Alhaji Najeem Yasin said the proscription order called for calm among members and leaders of the state NURTW.

Yasin, who is currently on lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia urged members of the Union not to engage in any activities that may tarnish the already good image of the Union.
He promised that he would come to Oyo State immediately he returns from his lesser Hajj to meet Governor Makinde to resolve the dispute.
“Presently, I’m in lesser Hajj and I promise to be in Oyo immediately I return from Saudi. I believe things will be right ones we meet with the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde. Oyo State people have been experiencing peace and we want it to continue without anybody disturbing the peace that have been reining in the state,” he said.
The president enjoined his members in various motor parks to go about their lawful professional duties without fear.
The two factions that are causing a crisis in the state are the acting-chairman, Alhaji Abideen Olajide (Ejiogbe) and former state stalwart of the Union, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary).
