Chairman, Oyo East Local Government Area, Honourable Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, has promised that the reconstruction of the Akesan market in Oyo, the town’s main commercial centre razed by fire will soon be ready.
Arowosaye disclosed this at the weekend during an interview with Tribune Online, adding that his administration is on course to make sure the market returns to shape.
He said the sketch of the design of the market will be ready in due course as he assured the affected traders to be calm as Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde will put smiles on their faces.
“The governor gave us the authority to take over the market and the work has since commenced. You can see that bulldozers are here already and the affected places have been cleared and even the shops that are not affected will also be demolished, so we can swing into action immediately.
“I was in Ibadan on Thursday and the design of the new market has started, hopefully by Monday, it will be completed. It’s going to be a lovely market, storey building market with all modern facilities in it,” Adeyemi said.
