Real estate agency tasked on professionalism

Real estate professionals in Nigeria have been charged for improvement in estate agency aspect of their profession, by not allow political and economic challenges that have plagued the country to negatively dictate their activities and that they should be committed to embracing new innovation and imbibe the culture of research.

President, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, (NIEVS), Dr Joshua Patunola-Ajayi, at the second annual conference of the Association of Estate Agents of Nigeria (AEAN),  where new executive members were inaugurated last week, urged them to go back to the drawing board and ensure that they were in tune with global best practices.

According to Patunlola-Ajayi, “Real Estate agency is a profession and not just a business, and the world has gone far from what it was, which was marketing, but now shifted from the streets to the internet.

“As professionals, we have to go back to the drawing board and make sure we are in tune with the practices of Estate Agency as being done all over the world”.

The conference that had as its theme, “Estate Agency practice and National Development,” had another fellow and past president of NIESV, Mr. Bode Adediji, who is the chairman of the occasion, also admonished them to be in tune with modern practices.

“It is not sufficient to discuss; we must carry our knowledge to the power quarters and contribute to the movement of Nigeria from recession to prosperity,” Adediji said.

Expounding the theme, a fellow of NIESV, Gbenga Olaniyan, stressed the need for estate agents to embark on research in order to update themselves on real estate trends.
