The Nuhu Ango Foundation (NAF), a non-profit organisation, has supported no fewer than 60 widows with food items and cash donations to assist them during the Ramadan period.
The donation was in honour of the founder of the foundation, the late Prof. Nuhu Ango.
Hajiya Asabe Garba, Zonal Coordinator, Federal Resource Centre, Minna, and wife of the founder, said the support was in line with her husband’s vision of assisting the less privileged.
She explained that the foundation had trained 100 beneficiaries in various skills, including computer training, shoemaking, bakery, and ICT, and provided them with starter packs.
Garba said the foundation also provided stationery to schools and supported widows with food items and cash during festive periods.
The Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Farouk Bahago, represented by Mabudin Minna, Alhaji Abubakar Bosso, described the founder as someone who was passionate about education and the welfare of the less privileged.
He urged the beneficiaries to consider themselves lucky and to use the support to improve their lives.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, Comrade Abu Nmodu, pledged the union’s support for the foundation’s sustainability.
He described the founder as “a gentle, respectful, and good-hearted individual whose impact would not be forgotten.”
The beneficiaries, including Ramatu Aminu, Aishatu Mohammed, and Maryam Aliyu, prayed for the soul of the founder and thanked the foundation for the support.
They said the foodstuffs and cash would go a long way to support them and their families during the Ramadan period.
