Rainstorm wreaks havoc in Ondo, destroys property

Torrential rain that lasted for an hour, on Monday, wreaked havoc in Eleyewo, Ilu Abo and Bolorunduro, among other communities in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, destroying property worth millions of naira.

The downpour, accompanied by a heavy storm, destroyed residential buildings including churches, mosques and shops while electrical poles were uprooted, throwing the community into darkness.

Recounting their losses, one of the residents identified as Joseph said the roof of the only community school in Ilu Abo, was also damaged by the rainstorm.

Mr Lukmon Haruna whose shop and goods were destroyed said that “Over 20 houses and churches were destroyed by the rain.

He, however, sought the intervention of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, relevant agencies and other philanthropists.
