Project our image in positive light, Buni tells non-career ambassadors

Yobe State governor and Chairman, All Progressives Congress Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, has urged newly designated Non-Career Ambassadors to showcase the country in a positive light wherever they are posted.

Governor Buni gave the admonition, on Monday, when he played host to some of the Ambassadors who paid him a courtesy visit ahead of their resumption in the respective countries they have been assigned.

Tribune Online checks revealed that the 40 non Career Ambassadors were cleared by the Senate last July sequel to the formal request for their screening and confirmation after nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Buni said in view of the security challenges facing the country, the Ambassadors must make themselves available in offering solutions to the menace.

He also said Nigeria was determined to sustain a warm relationship with other nations.

Responding to the request of his guests for the creation of a desk for non Career Ambassadors at the party national secretariat, the acting national chairman assured them that their request would be granted.

He also promised to invite them to partake in the forthcoming national convention of the party as observers.

Ambassador Nwanne Ominyi who spoke on behalf of his colleagues thanked President Buhari and the party leadership for their appointment.

He said: “We are ready to discharge our duty to the nation and the party. We shall remain committed to the party so that in 2023, our victory will be easy.

We shall build a strong bond between Nigeria and our hosts.

“Our appointment is a call to service and we are aware that the party interest supersedes our individual interest.”

The Ambassadors further assured the APC “that the purpose for which we are appointed will be protected by God Grace.”
