The former Managing Director of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, Sir Folu Olamiti, has received eulogies from notable Nigerians as he celebrates his 70th birthday anniversary.
The celebration which began with a Holy Communion and Thanksgiving Service at The Cathedral Church of The Advent, Life Camp, Abuja was presided over by the Primate of the Church of Nigerian (Anglican Communion), Archbishop Henry Ndukuba.
Speaking with journalists after the Communion Service, Primate Ndukuba described Sir Olamiti as a role model and man of faith who never shies away from the gathering of brethren.
He said that the Tribune ex-MD whom he also described as a prudent manager of resources has served the country meritoriously and also served God faithfully.
“We thank God for the life of our father Chief Olamiti and the work God is using him to do. He is a role model, and he is a man of faith, in fact, he never misses any church activity or bible study.
“Professionally, he is right on the point, he is a man that cherishes quality in whatever he is doing. We thank God that he is a prudent manager of resources, both human, financial and material.
“We have found in him somebody we can rely on and work with, whom God has raised at such a time like this, he is ever optimistic and hopeful for the future. Because he is a man that believes in the future, you will see him associating with the young and getting into the things that are trending.
“He cherishes his profession and he uses his profession positively to the glory of God and for God’s people and for our nation. He has served this nation meritoriously and he is serving God in a faithful way,” the clergy noted.
Also, Justice Helen Ogunwumiju of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, while praying for Sir Olamiti, said he is a wonderful personality and dedicated to the service of God.
“He has been a wonderful person, he is dedicated to God and to the service of God, he has embraced so many people over the years and we give glory to God for allowing him to turn 70 and I wish him many more years of good health and more service to humanity,” she noted.
On his part, the celebrant, Sir Olamiti expressed joy by the calibre of persons that honoured him on his 70th anniversary.
“I am feeling very happy, very elated because of the joy I have received today, it is overwhelming that two primates attended my 70th birthday and the quality of the crowd that came. I have to give thanks to my friends, like former Governor of Ogun State Segun Osoba who sent in his goodwill message from London, and former President of the Senate, David Mark who sent his media aide to attend and Femi Adesina also came to honour me.
“If you ask me how I got to 70 years, I can’t even tell because it’s just like yesterday, I didn’t know I am up to 70 years. Inside me, I am still feeling strong, it is the grace of God that has made me be what I am today, and I will continue to serve God till the end of my life,” he said.
He said even at 70 years, he is still very strong and could travel outside the country alone without assistance, unlike some persons he is older than.
“When I travel outside the country alone, look at other people of my younger age, they could not even travel without an aide, but I travel alone without an aide,” he added.
