After the deadly attack on passengers by some suspected kidnappers along Lokoja-Abuja road in Acheni-Gegu area of Kotonkarfe on Wednesday, the Kogi State Police Command has rescued six persons abducted by the kidnappers.
Some suspected armed kidnappers on Wednesday morning at about 6.30 am along Lokoja-Abuja road killed two persons, injured others and also kidnapped some passengers.
The police public relations officer of the command, DSP William Aya who confirmed the story to Nigerian Tribune on Thursday said six persons were rescued on Wednesday immediate the incident happened.
According to him, the Kogi State Police Commissioner, CP Ayuba Ede when he received called on the attacked quickly mobilised his unit and stormed the area.
Aya noted that the police who swung into action after a distress call had rescued the six abducted persons saying manhunt for the arrest of the bandits has begun and to rescue other abductees who are still in the kidnappers’ den
He assured the public that the police will work assiduously to arrest all those involved in the dastardly act.
During the attack, one Mr Nicholas Ofodile a businessman from Lokoja and other person was killed while some passengers were abducted by the suspected kidnappers on Wednesday.
