Police recover militants’ operational boat, demolish hideouts in Ishawo

The police in Lagos State has continued the onslaught against militants in the Ikorodu area of the state, as more hideouts and shanties were destroyed in the creek.

Seven milltants, who were arrested during a clash between soldiers and suspected militants in the Ajapa area of Ondo State, had also been handed over to the police in Lagos for prosecution.

The hideout was discovered at about 8:00 a.m on Saturday by a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and volunteer police led by Superintendent Godfrey Soriweiu.

The Friday invasion of the millitants’ camp came less than two weeks after the police demolished criminal hideouts in the Lagos community.

The suspected kidnappers, who were preparing their morning meal, took to their heels on sighting the police, but a speed boat belonging to the militants was recovered in the operation that lasted for over three hours.

Also, the seven suspected milltants who were, early in the week, arrested by soldiers in Ajapa community in Ondo State, and handed over to the police in Lagos State, have confessed to be responsible for some of the attacks in Ikorodu and Epe areas of Lagos State.

The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, Olatunji Disu, confirmed the Ishawo operation to Metro.

Disu also stated that the police would continue to dislodge the militants until total peace would be restored in Ishawo and other communities in Lagos.
