KWARA state police command has arrested one person for allegedly carrying out illegal registration of voters in Offa local government area of Kwara state.
A statement by the administrative secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Mr Paul Atser, which was made available to journalists in Ilorin on Friday said that the suspect carried out the criminal act using scanned INEC Permanent Voters Card through a computer application called Corel Draw.
The INEC boss, who said that the suspect was already undergoing further investigation by the police after being apprehended, advised people to be watchful and ensure that they go to only INEC designated registration centres to be captured in the ongoing continuous voter’s registration exercise.
“It has come to notice of the independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Kwara state that some unscrupulous persons are carrying out illegal registration of voters in Offa local government area of Kwara state using scanned INEC permanent voters card through an application called Corel Draw.

Already one suspect has been apprehended and is undergoing further investigation by the police”, he said.
The INEC boss said that a list of designated registration centres was available from the INEC Kwara state office and all local government offices of the commission in the state.
