Authorities of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police have arrested a middle aged man identified as Kazeem Ayoola for allegedly hacking his 85-year-old mother, Taibat Ayoola, to death.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred at Akinyele village, via Osu, in Atakumosa West local government area of the state.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun Police command, Mrs Foladade Odoro.
The remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.
The police spokesperson said the suspect, allegedly machete his mother, at the village near Osu on Friday.
“The reason for the killing is yet to be ascertained because the suspect has not given any reasonable cause for his action.”
However, the police affirmed that thorough investigation into the killing was ongoing, assuring that the accused would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
