Police arrest 157 suspected armed robbers, thugs in Kano

The Kano Police Command has arrested 157 suspects involved in armed robbery and thuggery (specifically the notorious Fadan Daba). They also recovered suspected tramadol tablets valued at over N150 million.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, on Wednesday, announced this at the state police headquarters.

He stated, “Over the past four weeks, the Command has intensified intelligence-led joint operations, conducted round-the-clock visibility patrols, and initiated strategic partnerships with community members.”

“As you may know, the primary responsibility of the police is the protection of life and property. When I assumed my position as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state, I was fully briefed about the security challenges we would face.

“After receiving these briefs, it became clear that addressing the pervasive issues of thuggery, particularly the notorious Fadan Daba, drug abuse (known as Kwaya), armed robbery, and other violent crimes must be our top priorities.

According to him, “These proactive and collaborative efforts are yielding positive results adding that parts of the successes recorded are the breakthroughs that led to the dismantling of criminal networks that specialized in smuggling of firearms in to the state which led to the recovery of 19 fabricated revolver rifles with 114 live cartridges and six expended cartridges, as well as recovery of suspected tramadol tablets worth over N150,000,000:00.

He also added that “From 17h March 2025 to date, a total of 157 suspects involved in armed robbery,thuggery (Fadan Daba), theft, illicit drug dealings and other violent crimes were arrested with recovery from them
firearms, dangerous weapons, illicit drugs and stolen properties.

Below is the summary of achievements recorded within 24 armed robbery suspects,14 suspected drug dealers, 7, suspected motor vehicle thieves
5,suspected motorcycle thieves 28 suspected thieves and 79 suspected thugs (Yan Daba).

He further stated that those items recovered are, two English pistols, 19 fabricated revolver rifles and one fabricated pistol.

Others are 117 live cartridges, six expended cartridges, 11 live ammunition, two motor vehicles,two tricycles, three motorcycles, Consignments of tramadol tablets worth N150 million and six cartons of Ampicillin Tablets.
