President Bola Tinubu has stated that he was so excited that he couldn’t sleep at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) verdict in Abuja on Wednesday, declaring him the election winner on February 25.
President Tinubu said he awaited the case’s outcome with bated breath and could not sleep when the decision was made. He was speaking on Thursday at a meeting that took place alongside the G20 Summit in New Dehli, India.
He said: “Wednesday night was a night of great expectations. I was waiting anxiously to see if my job was secured or not.
“So, from that, out of the excitement of the victory, I couldn’t sleep.”
Having arrived to the meeting late, the president apologised and stated, “When I looked at the time, the time difference between Nigeria and India is another difficulty. My phone continued to ring until I turned it off quite late in the day.
So, it was a very challenging day after; that was a hangover that I enjoyed, and I hope we all appreciate why we are starting late. Please forgive us.”
Addressing the audience of prospective investors, Tinubu said his government will provide a conducive environment for their business to thrive in the West African nation.
He said, “We are here not to talk politics, but to present a future to you. The future of a country that is so rich, endowed, highly populated, very dynamic and unique in its culture. We are unique in our tradition, unique in our ethnicity, a country that we are determined to make its prosperity possible if only we use that God-given diversity for the prosperity of Nigerians.
“And we are sure to do that. That is what I am standing here to assure you. We are not in doubt; we can do it. And you heard the names of people that I mentioned; many of them are here in their private jets.”
