MAKURDI, the Benue State capital, on Sunday stood still for the greater part of yesterday as citizens trooped out in numbers to catch a glimpse of their son and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark.

This was contained in a statement made available to the news in Abuja yesterday by Media aide to the former Senate President, Mr Paul Mumeh, who hails from the State

According to the statement, “Senator Mark literally walked on human heads anywhere he went in the agrarian State capital amidst cheers and ovation of “David Mark, Nigeria!”

He disclosed that the presidential hopeful was in Makurdi, Benue State capital in continuation of his consultation with delegates ahead of the presidential primary election proposed for Port Harcourt, Rivers State and to also participate in the governorship primary election.

The statement further added that the State Chairman of the PDP, Sir John Ngbede and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Titus Uba who spoke on behalf of the delegates promised to be in the forefront of Mark’s Presidential Campaign.

It quoted Ngbede as saying that Senator Mark’s entrance into the Presidential race was an honour for which the people of North Central could not take for granted as the entire people would work for his total victory.

“We are proud of him and we shall go all out to campaign for him in order to clinch the PDP presidential ticket. Nobody is in doubt of the integrity, capability and competence of Senator Mark to navigate the ship of the nation successfully if elected,” Ngbede stated.

Responding, an elated Senator Mark promised to bring service delivery to the people in a manner that is equitable and fair to all parts of Nigeria if elected.

He said his desire was to see “a Nigeria that is prosperous and respected globally”, saying “We have all it takes to be great if we harness our human and material resources properly. I am prepared to lead the nation to the next level.”

Former Interior Minister, Comrade Abba Moro had while introducing Senator Mark recalled how the Presidential aspirant intervened in critical situations including the invocation of the Doctrine of Necessity which solved an intractable political logjam to save Nigeria from the precipice.

Moro affirmed that Senator Mark was a ready hand needed to salvage the nation from the rudderless ship.
