Hon. Kayode Atolagbe, PDP Chairmanship candidate in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State, on Tuesday, described as untrue the claim that he was firing a dane gun into the air to the delight of his supporters during the PDP/APC clashes over local government issues on Monday.
He, however, charged those behind the news to retract it within 24 hours, saying failure to do this would inform his lawyers to take legal action against the writer and others involved in the act.
Hon. Atolagbe, in a statement in Osogbo, said, “I want to say unequivocally that this report is not only false but it was targeted to tarnish my image. And I want to urge members of the fourth estate of the realm to always uphold the tenets of journalism by making sure that every report is well investigated before going to the public.”
“Since I started my campaign, I have never been involved in any act which is capable of putting my people into apprehension. I am not a desperate politician. Though we are aware where this fabrication is coming from, at the appropriate time, we shall respond to the fullest.”
“My videos are everywhere where I was appealing to my people to remain calm even in the face of provocation orchestrated by the APC in Ifedayo Local Government.”
“I wish to tell my people to remain calm and unbothered. Governor Ademola Adeleke is a peace-loving leader who doesn’t want his people to be killed. The atmosphere of peace is what we want and God has given us under the leadership of the Governor.”
“I want to inform my people that they should come en masse on Saturday, February 22, 2025, to cast their votes for all PDP candidates. It’s through this that we can continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy in our dear state,” he concluded.
