PDP chair: Daniel solicits support in Bauchi

ONE of the  aspirants for the national chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Gbenga Daniel, has visited Bauchi State to lobby party delegates and officials ahead the national convention of the party on December 9.

Speaking at the Bauchi State secretariat of the party, the former Ogun State governor said he was there to interact with the delegates in the state “because every party member is important” towards his aspirations.

He promised to be fair to all PDP stalwarts across the country if elected, “so that everybody would work vigorously towards strengthening the party to take over power, come 2019.”

This is even as he appealed to members, who defected from the party as a result of the internal crisis that rocked the party after the 2015 general election, to return to the fold, opining that all burning issues would soon be resolved after the forthcoming national convention.

Daniel alleged that since the inception of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in 2015 at the federal  level and some states, they had been witch-hunting opposition members through detentions and arrests “with a view to silencing them from constructive criticism, which is essential in democracy.”

According to him, the present APC administration nationwide has performed below expectations since their taking over two years ago, as only few projects  has, so far, been commissioned in some states and nothing has been done in places like Bauchi.
