PDP, APGA fault Nasarawa LG polls, say it is shameful

TWO major opposition political parties in Nasarawa State have condemned the local government election conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), saying “it is a shame.”

The parties, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Grant Alliance (APGA) have further described the process that saw All Progressives Congress winning all seats as a mockery of democratic practices.

The PDP through the state chairman, Hon. Francis Orogu lamented that the 2018 local government election in the state is the worst so far.

“It is ridiculous for the APC to come and announce that election held in the state when everybody in the state is aware that election on took place in Kwandere, home of governor Almakura.”

“The next place voting took place was Gayam ward where only governor Almakura voted. We are sad that APC leadership in the state don’t have conscience.”

Reacting also the National Secretary of the APGA, Mr. Labaran Maku said that the election was a shame and a disgrace to Nigeria’s democracy.

“What happened in Nasarawa state on Saturday was compiling of names of APC members to fill the position of local governments chairman because there was no election.

Maku argued that there cannot be an election where polling materials were not seen at polling units and no result was announced or displayed at the polling units.

“People did not even show up at polling units not to talk of voting. So where did the number announced by NASEIC come from? Maku queried.

According to the governorship candidate of APGA in the 2015 election, “do we have people in the state assembly or they are just Almakura’s puppets?”

Maku called on all the political parties in the state to remain resolute in their determination to root out APC from the state come 2019.

“I call on the people of Nasarawa, Nigerians and the world to condemn what APC called local government election because. It is a shame to democracy.”
