FOLLOWING the directive by the Oyo State Government, that a committee be constituted, the State Anchor Borrowers Programme Committee has held its inaugural meeting on Thursday in Ibadan.
While speaking during the meeting, the Project Monitoring Reporting Officer, Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agriculture (NIRSAL), Oyo state, Kenneth Osanebi, shared with the committee members NIRSAL’s activities since 2017.
Osanebi, stated that from 2017 till date, Oyo state NIRSAL has achieved 93.5% loan recovery.
He noted that the new road map introduced to the committee would enable Oyo state farmers immensely benefit from the Anchor Borrowers Programme.
Osanebi stated that the Oyo state NIRSAL, had been mandated to finance hectares of farms of; Cassava – 50,000, Maize – 50,000, Rice – 10,000, and Aquaculture – 100 Geo cooperatives (10 Aquaculture farmers makes up 1 Geo coop).

The PMRO who stressed that this would be implemented this planting season said NIRSAL had made provision for land clearing.
In his address, the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Ministry of Agric and Rural Development, Victor Atilola, expressed his great delight, urged members of the committee to deliver their mandate to farmers in the state.
The committee which is headed by Kenneth Osanebi include NIRSAL, CBN representative, Permanent Secretary Oyo state Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development, The President of CIECOBON, OYSADEP’s Program manager/CE, FADAMA, NAIC, NIHORT, IITA, PAN, The Private sector, Banks, Farmers’ leaders, and the media.
