Oyo civil servants will get salary by 25th every month – Ayandele says

One of the aspirants for the Oyo governorship seat in the 2019 elections, Dr Olusola Ayandele, has, among others, promised to ensure that civil servants get their salary by the 25th of every month.

Aside from prompt salary payment, Ayandele said the priority of his administration, if he emerges governor, will be Agriculture, security, free healthcare, free education, poverty alleviation, industrialization and promoting regional integration.

Ayandele made these declarations when he officially made known his intention to vie for Oyo governorship seat on the platform of the APC at party office, Ibadan, on Thursday.

Specifically, Ayandele, who is a Director at Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing Limited, noted that he was bound to align with the manifesto of the APC and improve upon the strides of the incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

“What we will do is poverty alleviation, free education at all levels, free healthcare to the vulnerable women, children, infants. We will focus on Agriculture which will be the basis for our industrialization. In all of these, we will encourage regional integration as well as encourage our civil service to drive all government initiatives.

“As I told the party executives, I promise that when I become governor, civil servants will collect their salary by the 25th of every month. On security, by the special grace of God, whatever the governor is doing right will be deepened, expanded and encouraged. By the special grace of God, we will strictly adhere to the manifesto of the APC. Even after that, we would try to personalize it,” Ayandele said.

On his stance amid the crisis in the APC, Ayandele said he remained a “true progressive” and remained in the mainstream of the party.

He expressed optimism that some members who left the APC being “true progressives” will return to the party.

“We are not worried because as a true progressive, there is no where we will go. The teeth and tongue will fight but they will not leave the mouth. The true progressive will find their way back. We will appeal to them and things will be fine. There has been a lot of efforts and people are discussing,” Ayandele said.

Commenting on the declaration, Secretary, Oyo APC, Mr Mojeed Olaoya averred that Ayandele being a member of the party had exercised his right to vie for elective positions.

He said what was paramount was for the party to ensure that primaries leading to the emergence of its governorship candidate, whether direct or through consensus, is fair and credible.

Prior to his declaration at the APC Secretariat, Ayandele had visited the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji and Ibadan home of Reverend Mrs Tola Oyediran, where he received their prayers and best wishes.
