THE Oyo State Government has announced the expansion of membership of the panel to review the 1957 declaration of the Olubadan of Ibadanland from 7 to 11.
This development, according to Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Bimbo Kolade was in answering calls to involve more stakeholders in Ibadanland and other concerned parties in the Olubadan chieftaincy issues.
In the statement released on Saturday, Kolade expressed optimism that the expansion will enhance the recommendations of the Justice Akintunde Boade led panel.
Kolade who restated that the review was to modernise the Ibadan chieftaincy system, added that the new members of the panel will soon be inaugurated.
He added that the Governor Abiola Ajimobi government would not interfere in the activities of the review panel.
It would be recalled that Governor Ajimobi had on Friday, May 19, inaugurated a seven-man judicial commission of inquiry headed by a retired High Court judge, Justice Akintunde Boade to review the Olubadan chieftaincy declaration and other related chieftaincies in Ibadanland.
