Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, said his administration had concluded every necessary arrangement to earmark a substantial amount of money to better the lives of people living in the rural communities of the state.
He also hinted that community engagement programmes where community dwellers would interact with the government on their various needs had been taken to over 1,000 villages in the state in the last one year.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, made these known in Osogbo during a press conference to commemorate his first year in office.
According to him, “their demands have been noted by the Governor and plans have been concluded to allocate a large amount of money to better the lives of people living in the rural communities.”
He said: “When we presented the report of our visits to the rural communities, the Governor directed those in the budget planning to work with us, and include the demands of rural dwellers in the 2022 budget.
“Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as a democratically inclined and people-oriented leader has equally left no stone unturned in ingraining democratic ideals, principles and values in the state governance through continuous engagement drive with the people of the state.
“In the last one year, Osun Civic Engagement Office as first of its kind in the history of the state has succeeded in making tremendous achievements in the area of bridging the gap between government and the people in the state through number of engagement drives resting on the interface with strategic groups, communities and individuals to form public opinions which will help the government formulate and implement policies that truly represent the actual needs and aspirations of the people.”
The governor aide however explained that; “Oyetola, in order to run an inclusive and participatory government, directed the civic engagement to embark on community outreach and engagement, advocacy and enlightenment, as well as security and conflict resolution.”
“The intention of Oyetola is to get feedback from people to enable him to form part of the policy formulation cycle, thereby facilitating more participatory and all-inclusive governance for the sustenance of democracy and plenary development of the state.
