The Business Outliers has announced that its maiden ‘Outlier Venture Lab Startup Pitch Demo Day’ will hold on October 5, 2019. The ‘demo day’ is the final day of a four-week Acceleration Programme that kicked off on September 9, 2019.
“Outlier Venture Lab is designed to support and fast-track the growth of start-up with businesses in recycling, clean energy, climate-smart agriculture and clean tech ventures that are solving challenges in our environment,” said Olawunmi Olatunji, founder of The Business Outliers.
According to her, 15 start-ups were intially selected to participate in the programme.

“They went through a business training programme, received valuable one-on-one mentoring from sector experts and coaching from a rich array of experienced international business persons.
“These startups have been invited to hone their finance skills and business models at the bootcamp. They will also pitch their product/services on the demo day. Pitching will be done before investors and other financiers who have a potential to fund business that needs $50,000 and above,” Olatunji said.
One of the participants, Dickson Ntia, CEO, Your Light Startup, said that the bootcamp had been really helpful, adding that “there’s some of the advice we’ve started trying out already.”
Organisers say that this maiden edition of the Outlier Venture Lab has set the pace for significant impact in the Nigerian entrepreneurship ecosystem, as it will attract policy makers, business leaders, academics and other prominent individuals who are interested in creating sustainable development and addressing environmental challenges through entrepreneurship and innovation.
