The Osunmakinde Royal family of the Arolu community in Surulere Local government, Ogbomoso Oyo state, have decried what they described as a denial of royal rights and entitlements since 1989.
This was contained in a statement signed by the family of the late monarch of the community, Alarolu of Arolu, Oba James Aderinto, in celebration of the monarch’s 10 years remembrance anniversary.
According to the statement, the community has been denied royalties since 11th May 1989 when the council was established.
“Arolu is a beaded-crown-wearing monarch, who, however, is being treated as an ordinary chief under Surulere Local Government by blocking all our royal rights and entitlements from being paid by the authority of Surulere Local Government since 11th May 1989 when the council was established.”
The family also lamented the diversification of federal government projects, particularly the “Nigerian Building of Road Research Institute” (NBRRI), for the development of Arolu and its environs since 1990.
Furthermore, the family seeks the intervention of the state government in the boundary dispute between Arolu and Iresaadu, which remains unresolved since 1994 till date.
“Our complaints as well include the Aresaadu’s diversification of the Nigerian Building of Road Research Institute (NBRRI), the federal government projects for the development of Arolu and its environs (Sokodilu) since 1990.”
“The boundary dispute between Arolu and Iresaadu remains unresolved since 1994 till date,” the statement reads.
