Osun State government, on Tuesday, shut down 23 private schools in the state for operating without required standards.
Reasons for closure of the schools according to the state ministry of Education, included dirty teaching environment, unqualified teachers, nonrenewable of licenses and operating without a licence.
The state Commissioner for Education, Hon Folorunso Oladoyin while supervising the closure of the schools, on Tuesday, said the sealing off of the affected schools were part of the government’s efforts to sanitise the education sector for better results.
He maintained that Governor Gboyega Oyetola led administration would ensure that students in the state always get the best in terms of quality education.
He said agents of the state education ministry would continue to scout the state in order to fish out more mushroom and substandard private schools.
According to him “the state government is determined to producing graduates who are critical thinkers and globally competitive.”
He, therefore, advised private schools that are not properly registered with the state’s Ministry of Education to do so as soon as possible because the government will not condone any act that can sabotage its resolve to give Osun students the best.
The Sealed schools included Hephzibah Kiddies, Ejigbo, Najeemdeen Model Schools, Ejigbo, Favour of God secondary school, Okinni, Omolara Nursery And Primary School, Iwo among others.
