THE Lodifi Of Ipetumodu, in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun state, Chief Kehinde Orosanyan has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adam over the escape of two suspected armed robbers who robbed him of his belongings from the police custody.
In a petition dated 9th May, 2019 through his counsel, Barrister B.L Ijaiya, which was also copied Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone XI, Osun State Commissioner of Police and O/C SARS Osogbo, Orosanya called on the police to unravel the circumstances that led the escape of the suspects from their custody.
According to the petition, which was obtained by Tribune Online in Osogbo on Monday, the prime suspect simply identified as Lakin and his cohorts had on 25 days of November 2018 broke into his house located at old Umezure Hospital area, Ipetumodu and made away Toyota Camry Sports Car, 2007 model and its documents.
Other stolen items include two flat screen televisions, home theatre, wedding rings, wrist watches, native and English dresses, his chieftaincy beads and crown, pairs of shoes, voters card, DTB among others valuables.
He further explained that after he lodged complaints at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ipetumodu and upon his complaint, the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) swung into action and eventually got the prime suspect apprehended at Modakeke from who some of the stolen clothing and pieces of jewellery were retrieved.
Orosanya further hinted that the suspect assisted the SARS to fish out the whereabouts of his accomplices and thereafter, an officer of the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ipetumodu eventually arrested Lakin’s co-suspect at Asipa, Ife North local government before he was handed over to the state CID(SARS) in Osogbo.

According to Orosanya, Lakin while making his confessional statement explained that he sold Toyota Camry Spot Car, 2007 model and its particulars to one prominent dealer in Osogbo.
Addressing a press conference alongside three other victims in Osogbo, he said the SARS officers invited them to their office where they were told that the arrested suspects have escaped from their custody at Ikirun.
Other robbery victims according to the Chief are; Olaosebikan Oyeyemi with a stolen car number EKY 671ET and Chassis Number 2TIBR3254C257613( Toyota Corolla, ash colour) the car was stolen by the suspects on 28th July 2018 at Ipetumodu. Mr Oladejo Dele(Toyota Corolla with grey colour) registration number LSR 777 DQ, the car was stolen on March 20, 2019, at 35 Power line area, Moro and MR Balogun Oluwafemi (Muscle Camry, black colour) with registration number Lagos LSR 662 EU, chassis number 4T1be46k37u512568 and engine number 2a2a291413.
He further lamented that “to our dismay, the SARS office invited all the victims of the robbery attack to the SARS office informed us that, the suspect Lakin and one other had escaped from their custody at Ikirun.”
“The act and conduct of the SARS to have allowed the suspects to escape from their custody are questionable as we are privileged to know that the dealer to whom the vehicles were sold is a prominent dealer in Osogbo.”
“Our lives are in danger because the SARS had taken the suspects to our houses the day before they (SARS) claimed that the suspects escaped from their custody. We are panicking because these people may attack us.
“We are calling on the Police authorities to graciously launch a thorough investigation into the matter so as to be able to unravel the mystery behind the escape of the suspects from the SARS custody” Orosanya pleaded
Efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Folasade Odoro over the development were unsuccessful as calls put through to her mobile phone did not go through.
Similarly, a text message forwarded to her mobile phone was not replied as of the time of filing this report.
