THE Police in Enugu foiled an attempt by unknown gunmen to cart away weapons from Ikiliki police station on Sunday.
It was gathered that the hoodlums had stormed the police station at the Enugu suburb with a pretext to report security matter in the locality.
But to the dismay of the law enforcement agents, the visitors began ransacking the station before they were overpowered.

Contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu said, “it was an incident which has to do with attack by some people suspected to be hoodlums who had come with the pretence of laying complaint in the early hours of today and under that guise, attacked our men although there was no casualty.
“Our injured personnel are responding to treatment. The quick intervention of the reinforcement team as dispatched by the commissioner of police could not give the hoodlums the opportunity to have the upper hands.
“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police had directed for a full-scale investigation into the incident with a view to unmasking those behind the incident.”
