Ooni cautions against blacklisting African cultural heritage

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Monday, cautioned against blacklisting  African cultural heritage, adding   that the culture and traditions of  African people, especially Yoruba race, remain the best  globally.

The traditional ruler, who gave the warning on Monday,during the celebration of Osara annual festival in Ile-Ife, frowned on the ignorance of those who  regarded cultural celebration  as  idol worshipping,  adding  that it is only a way of  edifying  God.

He described Ile-Ife as a land of mysteries which should  be acknowledged,  adding  that “this is why these festivals are being rejuvenated and showcased to the world in appreciation of  the goodness  of God with a view to  enhancing the continent’s socioeconomic development through tourism.

The traditional ruler explained that one essential thing God created for human sustainability is water, adding that Osara was a deity that has relevance with the Lagoon in Lagos State.
